Moom on Maya

The basics of character rigging was interesting (after I got past giggling every time I moved the hips around). It helped me visualize poses and how the camera would look at the subject to emphasise that pose.

Both these poses mess with foreshortening which is much easier in a 3D workspace.

This one has a red rim light to bring out the anger.

I then added ponytails, a nose and a sword and made Moom pose like Ivy, full of rage and vengeance.

Character Redesign - Week 4

Ivy's character is a lot like my little sister so it wasn't very difficult to come up with stories of her pranks and mischief. She has a trusty cardboard sword called CardSword (which can transition to merchandise easily) and an itchy-on-the-outside hoodie.

Here are some of the characters and backgrounds in the story. Monica, Erwin and Ralph are her "friends", they stick around so they aren't on the receiving end of her pranks (although this doesn't always work). Candice, Steve and Liz are indifferent, usually victims to Ivy. The backgrounds are inspired by "old-school" cartoons such as Courage the Cowardly Dog, Kids Next Door, Ed Edd n Eddy and Samurai Jack.
I modelled her room in Maya so that I would know precisely how she moves around in her room and how she exits.
